The Siena Jazz Festival is a communal experience where people come to enjoy performances by local and national artists. As designers, we aimed to create a memorable space where everyone can experience jazz music. The project is designed to be efficient enough for transport and set up at any venue across Italy.
Armonia Lineare creates a space open to the public, inviting everyone to join the event, yet enclosed enough to allow immersion in the music and lights. Structural steel springs, which can be compressed and transported in boxes, will support multiple rotating connectors. These connectors will hold reused fiber optic cables that emit light and change color, either selected by the hosts or in response to the sound of the jazz music being played. Seating will be provided using collapsible pine wood chairs with perforations, making them easy to transport. The stage is designed to accommodate performances ranging from soloists to sextets.
Armonia Lineare was a group project that consisted of the designers: Leanne Morgan, Brody Myers, and Lucio Castro.
